Recently I saw La Vierge, les Coptes et Moi
the award-winning film by Namir Abdel Messeeh
of a current famous sighting of the Virgin Mary
in Egypt, where thousands of Coptic Christians
assemble, and insist they see the Mother of Jesus

Not to be out-done by anyone,
I found that I too see Buddha in many places,
and here is documented proof …
I subscribe to any philosophy which permits me
the possibility of a hundred more life times
of sipping strong coffee
while watching people go by,
and eating chocolate eclairs.
Seriously, I was quite surprised to see that what is considered an award-winner at Cannes. Messeeh's documentary is quite hilarious at times, especially when he auditions and rehearses
local villagers in the enactment of a Christian play. The local farmers are people who have never left the area for generations, but are charmingly motivated in their film ambitions.
However, not much else seems to occur in this brief 85 minutes, notwithstanding a scene or two of his producer bawling him out over the phone as to what the director is actually doing to finish the project.
And what do we know further to answer our questions
and
why do so many people have sightings of the Mother of God?
